For several years Vango and the DofE have been working in partnership to produce and test kit that is not just suitable for expeditions but will enhance participants enjoyment.
For 2010 we have designed a brand new tent, sleeping bag and rucsac specifically with DofE participants in mind. Each of these products now feature on the official DofE Recommended Kit List.
The new simple to pitch, 3 pole, semi-geodesic Halo tent is packed full of innovation given its novel porch configuration which gives both a dry area to store gear on the groundsheet and an open section perfect for preparing food.
The award winning Supernova sleeping bag featuring Vango’s Thermal Embrace System (TES) hugs the body increasing the loft between the inner and outer layers and reduces the amount of air around the body, resulting in greater warmth and a much better night’s sleep.
Also new to the Recommended Kit List for this year is the Pumori rucsac, the pinnacle of Vango’s rucsac collection. This well researched, feature packed tried and tested bag is certain to become a firm favourite with experienced DofE participants and mountain adventurers.
For further information on these and all other Vango DofE Recommended Kit List products look out for the DofE logo on the product pages.
These products and all of the other Vango products featuring on the DofE Recommended Kit list are available to buy in stores now. |

Brand New For 2010: The Family Technical Collection |
|
Fusing technical innovation with practical and functional living space, Vango’s brand new range of family technical tents are spacious, lightweight and easy to pitch giving you the best of both worlds.
Available in three sizes: 400, 600 and 800 the Nevis range of family technical tents are new for 2010 and are based on our most popular tent within the family range in 2009, the Tigris.
The Nevis tents offer a tunnel design giving height and width, specification benefits you would expect from a Vango family tent giving comfort and usability, further enhanced by technical features.
With the Nevis collection you are not only getting family and tech friendly features but you also get peace of mind thanks to Vango’s patented Tension Band System. Vango’s TBS ensures that your tent performs in adverse weather conditions, especially strong changeable winds.
Something that appeals to all campers is ease of pitching and the Nevis does not disappoint. With flysheet first pitching and colour coded poles, it couldn’t be easier.
For added luxury and more usable space why not invest in some optional tent additions including a Nevis specific tent carpet and footprint or a colour coordinated tunnel canopy, extension or windbreak which will give you the option of adding extra space only when you need it.

Discrepancies in Icarus Canopy Support Materials |
Current stock of 2010 Icarus Canopies contain minor errors within the support material which may cause some confusion.
At present the hang tag reads “Designed specifically for our Artemis tent…” when it should read “Designed specifically for our Icarus tent.” All other information on the tag is correct in relation to the Icarus Canopy.
The pitching instructions, which are sewn into the bag which the Icarus canopy comes in, relate to the Sungari canopy. However, please be aware that the actual pitching instructions for the models are exactly the same. The only differences are that at the top of the page there is the word ’Sungari’ rather than ‘Icarus’ and the illustration shows pre-angled poles which are not applicable to the Icarus canopy.
Due to these discrepancies being of a minor nature the Sungari Canopy pitching instructions can be used for the Icarus Canopy and will have no adverse effect on the performance of the Icarus Canopy when it is pitched.
We apologise for any confusion this may have caused people and can assure everybody that the Icarus Canopy itself is great and makes a perfect addition to an already fantastic tent. These are very minor issues which have now been rectified for future production runs.
The correct pitching instructions can be downloaded by clicking here.
