| Help for Heroes Fundraiser |
|
Those of you who were regular visitors to our 2009 website will remember that Vango supported the Red Nose Climb of Mount Kilimanjaro in March last year.
This year we are sponsoring Neil Chamberlain, a former member of the British Armed Forces, in his attempt to climb the mountain with an aim of raising £15,000 for the Help for Heroes charity.
Help for Heroes supports those wounded, both physically and mentally, in the current conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.
We will be providing Neil with kit to climb the mountain and raffle prizes for his fundraising dinners.
Neil spent 10 years in the Armed Forces and a further 3 years in the Territorial Army and has witnessed all too often the devastating injuries sustained by those on the front line and is wanting to do his part for the soldiers who have returned and will be returning home in the future from Afghanistan and Iraq.
To sponsor Neil and to donate to Help for Heroes visit his Just Giving page. |

2010 Scottish Ultra Marathon
06.05.10 |
Vango are again delighted to be supporting the Scottish Ultra marathon for the second year running.
Starting from the 1st until the 7th May, the marathon is recognised as the toughest multi-day event held in the UK, with athletes covering 150kms of various terrains on the beautiful west coast islands of Islay and Jura.
Vango have donated key pieces of equipment including twenty Equinox mountain and thirty Beta adventure tents. Lightweight and durable, these tunnel tents will provide essential shelter to the participants from the elements.
Twenty athletes started the race on Sunday and already the tough conditions have forced several to retire early.
The first female and male athlete to cross the finishing line will both win some great products from our Lightweight range, including new for 2010 Apex tents and Rapide rucsacs. Designed specifically for mountain marathon competitors and lightweight adventurers, the Apex is extremely lightweight and will shelter the winner’s in future lightweight adventures. Athletes will appreciate the features of our new Ultralite rucsac, the Rapide. This rucsac will deliver fluids when needed most, contains essential storage space and has a sleek design to ensure that they do not hamper the user when time is of the essence.
Check out our Facebook page for daily updates and pictures from the race, and for more information regarding the event, please visit www.scottishultra.com.
